Purpose: This document provides step-by-step instructions for creating and editing a Department in Calibrate.
Audience: This document is meant to be used by Course Editors.
Assumption: The assumption is that if you're editing a Department, it already exists.

Create a Department
1] Login and click on the Hamburger menu.
2] When the menu appears click Departments.
3] The Departments list appears.
4] In the upper right corner, click the Create Department button.
5] The Create Department screen appears.
6] Enter a title for the department in the Title text box.
7] Optionally add a description in the Description text box.
8] To add Department members, locate them in the Account Users list on the right. You can locate them by scrolling through the list or search for them by entering their name (first or last) into the search box (results appear automatically).
9] When you locate an Account User you want to add as a Department Member, click the "+" to the left of their name.
10] Their name appears in the Department Members list.
11] To remove a Department member, click the "x" to the left of the name in the Department Members list.
|NOTE: You can remove any Department member but yourself. However, other Department members can remove you from the Department.|
12] When you have the details of the Department the way you want, click the Create button in the upper right corner to create the Department.
Edit a Department
13] Login and navigate to the Departments list.
14] You can locate the Department you want to edit two ways. You can search for it by entering the Department name in the search box (Departments appear automatically).
15] The other way to locate a Department is to navigate through the list using the page controls at the bottom of the list. You can go one page at a time by clicking the ">".
16] Or you can jump directly to a specific page in the Department list by clicking the down arrow next to the page number and then clicking on the page you want to jump to from the list.
17] When you locate the Department you want to edit, click on it. The Department page appears. On it you can see which Awards and Courses are associated with the Department.
18] In the upper right corner click the Edit button.
19] The Department details screen appears. Here you can edit the Department Title, edit or add a Description, and add or remove Department Members like before.
22] When you have the details of the Department the way you want, click the Finish button in the upper right corner.
|NOTE: You cannot delete a Department if it has any Courses or Awards associated with it.|
21] To delete the Department, click the red Delete This Department link.
22] When the Warning pops up, click Delete Department.
