Award |
A Skill Profile that represents a program of study leading to a credential (e.g. Certificate, Bachelor's Degree, etc.) |
Beneficial Skill |
A skill that is supplementary and helpful, but not necessary for the job. Candidates will benefit from having this skill but are qualified without it. |
Blueprint |
Curated collection of Work Activities, Knowledge Domains, Soft Skills, and Tools & Technologies that can be used as a starting point for a Job Profile. |
Content Manager | A Calibrate User who can create new content and manages permissions for Content Editors and Content Viewers. |
Collaborator |
A Reviewer in Calibrate that neither performs the job, manages the job or teaches the job. Examples include hiring managers and senior managers. |
Course Outcome |
A statement that describes the knowledge or skills students should acquire by the end of the Course to help guide assessment and evaluation. |
Critical Skill |
A skill that is highly relevant, required, and central to the job. Candidates are disqualified if the skill is missing or deficient. |

The specific Courses and Course Outcomes associated with a Calibrate Award |
Editor |
A Calibrate user who can edit, but not create, Calibrate items (e.g., Job Profiles, Courses, Awards) for which they were invited. |
Educator |
A Reviewer in Calibrate who teaches students to perform the job they are reviewing. |
Employability Skills |
Behaviors, interpersonal skills, character or personality traits, attitudes, social and emotional intelligence – what makes you effective at the job. |
Important Skill |
A skill that is important, complementary, and frequently performed within the job, but not required. Candidates can acquire or become proficient in the skills while on the job. |
Incumbent |
A Reviewer in Calibrate who performs the job they are reviewing. |
Irrelevant Skill |
A skill that is not relevant to the job. Candidates gain no benefit or advantage in the job from having the skill. |
Job Profile Editor |
Someone who contributes to the creation and management of a Job Profile. |
Job Profile |
A Skill Profile that represents a specific job. |
Knowledge Domains |
Areas of knowledge that someone needs to know in order to do the job. |
Pending Suggestion |
A skill or change in skill rating, recommended by a Reviewer or Reviewers during their Job Profile review, that has yet to be addressed by the Job Profile Editor(s). |
Review Discrepancy |
A skill in a Job Profile that was given one rating by the Job Profile Editor(s) and a different rating by the Reviewer(s). |
Profile Cluster |
A collection of related Job Profiles. |
Reviewer |
Industry or subject matter expert who provides feedback on a Job Profile. |
Skill Profile |
A collection of demonstrable, observable and measurable skills and characteristics comprised of Work Activities, Knowledge Domains, Soft Skills and Tools & Technologies |
Skill Set |
A group of skills which are grouped together according how they comprise a single competency within a Job Profile. |
Supervisor |
A Reviewer in Calibrate who directly manages people who perform the job being reviewed. |
Tagging |
Assigning keywords to Calibrate items (e.g., Job Profile, Course, Award) to make them easier to find in the future by searching for their associated tags. |
Target Profiles |
For a given Award, the Job Profiles representing the potential jobs a graduating student should be qualified to do. |
Tools & Technologies |
Categories and specific examples of machines, equipment, software, and technologies used on the job. |
Unrated |
A skill that has been added to a Job Profile but has not yet been assigned a rating by the Job Profile Editor(s). |
Unreviewed |
A skill that has been added to a Job Profile but has not yet been reviewed by a Reviewer. |
Validation |
The process in Calibrate by which Reviewers are recruited to review a Job Profile or Profile Cluster and then review it. |
Work Activities |
How units of time are organized on the job - what you actually do on the job. |
